Tullamore Show Results 2024

Dovea Genetics progeny stole the show at the Tullamore Show this year. Here's a breakdown of the prizewinners from each category.

With much sought after national titles & championships up for grabs at yesterday’s Tullamore Show, farmers travelled from every corner of the country to compete for the coveted prize of being named a Tullamore champion!

 

Once again we were delighted to see so many outstanding Dovea Genetics progeny on display. Congratulations to all our customers who exhibited and won prizes across the show. Check out some of the incredible prize winners below:

Commercial Cattle

Congratulations to the McPadden family winning Reserve Overall Commercial Calf Champion of the show with their Hazard VD Pannemeers (BB2280) sired heifer calf.

 

The Belgian Blue x male calf class was hotly contested before being awarded to the Stevenson family’s James Bond VD Jorchrishoeve (BB4396) sired bull calf.

Second prize in the Belgian Blue x male calf was awarded to the Teague family with their Maradona Du Champ Du Moulin (BB7842) sired bull calf.

 

Third prize in the Belgian Blue x male calf was awarded to Daniel & Eamon O’Connor with their Tattoo VD Sysloberg (BB6703) sired bull calf.

 

The Belgian Blue x female calf class also witnessed incredible entries with numerous Dovea Genetics sired progeny competing for the title. Winner of this class was the incredible Imperial de l’Ecluse (S905) sired heifer calf bred by the Burke family.

Second prize in the Belgian Blue x female calf went to Owen O’Neill with his Argan de l’Ecluse (S1241) sired heifer calf.

 

In the Charolais x male calf section, Luke & Victor Barnett took home first prize with their Crossmolina Euro (CSQ) sired bull calf.

Massive congratulations to the young handlers who competed in yesterday’s show also with William Stevenson winning the FBD National Livestock Show Young Stockperson of the Year 2024 with his Boherard Overdose (BB8337) sired heifer calf.

2nd prize in the under 270kg calf class went to David Hegarty with his Hazard VD Pannemeers (BB2280) sired heifer calf.

Second prize in the best bullock with no permanent teeth went to Oran Gill with his Du Grand Bon Dieu (BB2247) sired entry.

 

The Butcher’s Heifer first prize winner went to Martin Harold with his Negrita Du Lac (BB8019) sired heifer.

 

John Hickey claimed second prize in the breeding heifer class with his Imperial de l’Ecluse (S905) sired heifer while third prize went to the Moorhead family with their Elderberry Galahad (EBY) sired heifer.

 

Aisling Burke’s Imperial de l’Ecluse (S905) sired heifer claimed second prize in the best heifer with 2 or more permanent teeth class.

Belgian Blue

It was a full Dovea Genetics ring of winners in The Belgian Blue section as Dovea progeny were tapped out class after class.

 

First prize in the Belgian Blue Female Born on/before 31.08.2022 with/without her own calf at foot went to Ivan Allen with his Empire d’Ochain (EZN) daughter, Kilcombe Philly. This incredible animal was later tapped out as the overall Belgian Blue champion of the show.

Irish Belgian Blue Breeding Heifer Born on/between 01.09.2022 and 31.08.2023 was won by Mike Hannon with his Daffyd d’Ochain (YDD) daughter.

 

Tommy & Pauline Fitzgerald were awarded first prize in the Belgian Blue Female Born on/between 01.09.2023 and 31.12.2023 with their Boherard Overdose (BB8337) sired heifer, Heatherview Roxie. This incredible young heifer was later awarded Reserve Overall Belgian Blue Champion.

Lisa Delaney’s Boherard Overdose (BB8337) sired heifer, Lisdel Spicegirl won first prize at the Belgian Blue Female Born on/after 01.01.2024.

Liam Lynch’s Mannequin De Sberchamps (S1215) sired bull, Kilmainham Romeo was awarded first prize in the Belgian Blue Bull Born on/between 01.09.2023 and 31.12.2023. This superb young bull was later crowned Overall Male Champion Belgian Blue of the Show.

Billy Dunne’s Boherard Overdose (BB8337) sired bull, Errill Shady was awarded first prize in the Belgian Blue Bull Born on/after 01.01.2024 and was later crowned the Reserve Overall Belgian Blue Male Champion.

Limousin

Taking second prize in the National Pedigree Registered Limousin Heifer born on/between 01.01.2022 and 30.06.2022 was Newtown Trinity, an Ernevalley Madison (LM4745) daughter from Donal Moloney. She was just pipped to the post by Eddie Lynch’s heifer which went on to win Overall Limousin Champion of the show.

 

National Pedigree Registered Limousin Heifer born on/between 01.07.2022 and 31.12.2022 was sponsored by Dovea Genetics and was awarded to the Connell brothers with Carrickmore Tina Baby ET.

Simmental

Winner of the Dovea Genetics sponsored National Senior Pedigree Registered Simmental Bull born on/before 31.07.2022 was Garrett & Lyndsey Behan with Coltfield Murry. This super bull was later tapped out as reserve male champion.

Charolais

Skye Moore received the honour of winning the Dovea Genetics sponsored Young Handler competition for 12-16 year olds with the impressive Chanonstown Unique sired by Ocelot (CH5827).

 

Chanonstown Unique sired by Ocelot (CH5827) then went on to win her class, Best Registered Charolais Heifer Calf Born on/between 16.11.2023 and 31.12.2023.

Dovea Genetics were also delighted to sponsor the Best Registered Charolais Bull Calf Born in November 2023 won by Gerard Mc Intyre, Cavan with his young bull, Dhuish Upton.

Beef Shorthorn

First prize in the Registered Pedigree Beef Shorthorn Junior Bull Star of the Future Born on/after 01.11.2022 and before 01.01.2024 went to Gerard Regan with his Creaga Dice (CZB) sired bull calf.

 

Dairy Shorthorn

James Lambe of the Ballytrain herd saw great success with his team of dairy shorthorns with Ballytrain Marina 11th, half-sister to our very own Ballytrain Braveheart (MSX221) winning the junior Dairy Shorthorn cow class. This incredible young cow was then tapped out as the overall Dairy Shorthorn champion of the show.

Saler

The Reserve All Ireland Pedigree Salers Senior Heifer Calf Born on/between 01.08.2023 and 30.11.23 was awarded to Catherina Minogue with her super Montesqieu (SA6253) sired heifer calf.

 

Catherine Minogue also had the Reserve All Ireland Pedigree Salers Junior Bull Calf Born on/after 01.12.23 with her Montesqieu (SA6253) sired bull calf.

 

Winner of the breeder’s choice continental 4 or 5 star heifer class was Ryan Gibbons’ Ulsan (SA2189) sired heifer, Glengowla Bauble.

Ryan Gibbons’ Ulsan (SA2189) sired heifer also featured in the first prize winners of the Saler pair of animals class.

Blonde

Second prize winner in the Pedigree Blonde d'Aquitaine Male or Female born from 01.01.24 to 01.07.24 went to John Barry Moran with his Glacon (BA4661) sired calf.

Parthenaise

First prize winner in the Pedigree Parthenaise Bull/Heifer Calf Born on/after 01.01.2024 went to Ronan Carroll with his Hongrois (PT8923) sired calf, Moyvoughley Valley.

Ronan also won the Pedigree Parthenaise Bull Calf Born on/between 01.08.2023 and 31.12.2023 with Moyvoughley Ultra, an Obama (PT8481) sired calf.

Ronan Carroll was also awarded first prize in the Pedigree Parthenaise Heifer born on/between 01.08.22 and 31.7.23 with his Gainsbarre (PT2165) heifer, Moyvoughley Twilight.

Angus

Second prize in the Angus Heifer born on/between 01.09.22 and 31.08.23 went to Niall Regan with his Lavally Prince (AA4923) daughter, Dillon Vancouver, with third prize going to Noel & Lisa Dowd’s Keirsbeath Karma (AA4638) daughter, Deelish Voluptuous.

 

Noel & Lisa Dowd also took home second place in the Angus Heifer born on/between 01.09.23 and 31.12.23 with their Keirsbeath Karma (AA4638) daughter, Loughglass Whisper.

Congratulations to all exhibitors who took part in what was probably the most impressive show of the year.
